Find the right leash length for your board and conditions.
Leash length should roughly match your board length. Shorter leashes (board length minus 1-2 feet) are for small waves where you want minimal drag. Longer leashes add safety in big surf where a broken board can travel far. The leash should be long enough to give you freedom but short enough to control your board.
