Saltwater accelerates corrosion on metal parts: fins, fin boxes, leash plugs. Fresh water rinsing after every session extends gear life significantly. Fins and fin boxes are most vulnerable - look for white powder (oxidation) around fin tabs. Leash strings should be replaced every 6-12 months even without visible wear. In tropical locations, gear degradation is 2-3x faster due to higher salt content and UV exposure.
