💡 How It Works

Swell direction is the direction waves come FROM. Beach orientation is the compass direction the beach faces. The angle between them determines wave quality: 0-20 degrees is excellent for most breaks; 20-40 is good to fair; over 70 degrees often creates shorepound. Point breaks can handle more angled swells because the wave wraps around the point.
